Disaster Awareness From The Past Until Now

Disaster Awareness From The Past Until Now
Many people have heard or lost someone due to a hurricane or an earthquake, people sometimes can avoid this if they have the right knowledge. In other words, natural disasters can happen at anytime so people should prepare for it. However, preparing for natural disasters have changed over the past years. In fact, the United States had nearly no awareness in the past, and now it has much recourse to give people knowledge about awareness. So in the past they had many deaths and martial loses due to the lack of awareness, and now the losses are much less due to the effort they have put into it.
The United States have faced many natural disasters such as, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornados, and earthquakes. However, in the past there was no technology to predict if a disaster is happening or no. People at that time suffered a lot from these disasters due to the lack of knowledge and prepares. In 1925 a tornado het Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana that left more than 700 dead and more than billion dollars worth of damage. In addition, at that time there was not much about how to get prepared for a tornado or how to get ready for a disaster in general. In other words, sometimes the bad experience let us realize hoe to prepare ourselves to make it less horrible if its experienced in the future.
In the past the awareness was not as well as its now. For example, nowadays, there are shelters for hurricanes and tornados, roads to escape from tsunamis, and ways to survive an earthquake. However, in the past, the structure, knowledge, and recourses where low comparing to what people have nowadays. Also in the past small details was the problem. For example, when wiring electricity with regular wires to a city that gets many hurricanes or rain, while this could cause a large fire. As a result, instead of just a hurricane this city will have a hurricane and possibly a forest fire. In sum, having the knowledge is the most important aspect to prepare and survive the disaster.
Over the years the United States have developed the disaster awareness and have put many tax money into it. Moreover, realizing that the United States is a country that faces many natural disasters made the federal government put a lot of effort into awareness to avoid deaths in the future. A website called disasterassistance.gov is a government website can give help to people from how to survive a disaster to how to prepare for one. Another government blog website (http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/PublicSafety/Disasters.shtml) is about how to prepare for a disaster and in these blogs people are sharing there experience.
In the past the united states have suffered from the disasters due to, the lack of knowledge and recourses. On the other hand, when the knowledge and recourses came the united states gave there people more than enough to avoid loses and the number of deaths in the last 10 years compared to other disasters in other counters have proved how the united states have changed.
