Flood is basically a usual
hydrological phenomenon. They usually appear after big events, which
includes rain falls, due to storm water and melting of glaciers. They are
caused, in some way by seismic activities. Coastal areas are usually more
vulnerable to flooding due to hurricanes and tsunamis. To a certain degree,
astronomical phenomena such as big tides clubbed with big rainfall may cause
flooding (American Public Health Associations ,
2005). Losses and devastation from floods can be avoided by watching the
everyday weather news. Find out the safest instructions from your place to
another place which is away from flooding. Keep your means of travel ready in
case of emergency. Take animals and livestock to a higher ground. People need
to store food and drinking water, if they are living in a flood area.
