Tornadoes

Tornadoes

Another kind of natural disaster is Tornadoes. They are the most deadly and fascinating force. They are not big in size approximately one kilometer wide but leaves a huge destruction behind. They are also known as twisters or cyclones. They are violent winds that rotate in an ant clockwise direction toward north of the equator and clockwise towards south. They are also recognized as very tall black funnel. They can rotate as fast as 300 miles/hour (480 km/h) or even faster. At the center, air pressure is comparatively lower than the surrounding air pressure. The wind speed is the major cause of deaths and destruction by tornadoes. Many are killed by debris and flying objects. Australia, southern and mid-western US are the areas those are most likely to have tornadoes. The greatest and the most destructive tornado in known history happened in the US state of Indiana, Illinois, in 1925(American Public Health Associations , 2005).
There are a verity of ways to be protected from the devastating effects of tornadoes. In case of tornado, find a shelter which is ready with storm cellar or go to the basement of the house. Do not stand near the window because they can be destroyed due to harsh drop in air pressure. If it is not possible to reach basement in time, try to find a bathroom or a closet on the lowest floor, because they are normally anchored into the ground and thus are safer than anything else.  how to be prepared for a turnado.
